Second Defection, And Dislocation

After a short period of stability, dissensions started growing too intense for the band. In mid-1960, Nino Malapet left to join Essou’s Orchestre Bantou, followed by talented guitarist Papa Noël. The following year, Rock’a Mambo exploded.

The difference in views and probably low morale and leadership issues took the best of the musicians. The band split after a concert at Pointe Noire town in the Republic of the Congo. Some musicians reportedly had to sell their instruments to come back to Brazzaville, or Kinshasa.
