Rock’a Mambo Legacy

Rock’a Mambo was one of the most influential Congolese bands from the end of the 1950s and through the beginning of the 1960s. The band had A strong desire to invent something new in Congo’s musical landscape. They indeed reinvented Congolese music of that time by combining local sonorities to the Cuban cha-cha flavors. This was all facilitated by the number of talented artists of the band who also inspired a long list of young musicians that came after. Along with other bands of the same era, Rock’a Mambo helped spread the new music style across Africa, especially West-Africa and the Caraibes.
